Optimization of the height of masts for a radio link.

Task – design a network.

When designing a radio line, the key issue is to ensure the quality of the connection between its points. In practice, this comes down to ensuring visibility between the antennas, and some unobstructed spindle-shaped space between them called the Fresnel zone (more in our FAQ). The second issue is economics, which requires determining the lowest necessary height of masts or towers that will ensure unobstructed visibility. We can help you solve both problems.

How it's working?

At the initial stage, network design is based on elevation maps. Assumptions made at the desk need to be verified in the field and this is the essence of our offer. Visibility is verified using two flying objects - in the primary location, a drone with a high-resolution camera and a telephoto lens, and in the second location, a set of helium-filled meteorological balloons. Heading towards the azimuth determined from the map, we take a series of photos for different heights of sets of balloons. Analysis of the photos allows you to assess the minimum height of the subscriber mast to ensure proper communication.

Technical requirements?

The currently implemented service allows for effective measurements up to 12 km. Good, rainless and windless weather, temperature above -10 C is required.

Price?

The measurement is highly individualized and the speed of measurement varies for different areas. On average, during a working day we are able to verify about 6 locations (assuming a distance of 10 km between network points). A measurement day costs PLN 3,200 net (including the report and data analysis) plus the cost of the team's travel to the site.
