PROJECT REVIEW

The most important mast and tower installations
in the history of AluPro //PART 4

Steel lattice tower T1000-35 in Illingen (Germany)

The process of installing this structure proved inspiring, encompassing a wide range of services from design and structural calculations to the actual construction of the tower. Situated on a picturesque hilltop in a peaceful rural setting, just a few miles from Illingen, the tower is distinguished by two external work platforms and serves the purposes of a WISP (wireless internet service provider).

Interestingly, our client undertook the task of planting an apple orchard as part of the environmental compensation in order to obtain permission to build the tower. Despite the obstacles, the undertaking paid off.

Economical steel lattice tower T500-35 – located near Bełchatów (PL)

The concept for this project was born out of unique constraints. With the challenge of building a tower of considerable height—35 meters—in a confined space with a base of only 4.5 meters, our approach was strategic. The challenge was further compounded by the proximity of two neighboring buildings and the need to fit into the space between them, as seen in the photo on the right. It was the small space at the base of the tower and the expected height that made this project difficult.

The choice of a steel structure was a natural choice due to its stiffness resulting from the Young’s modulus of steel. This stiffness helped to limit the displacements of the tower top despite the rather modest width of the base. To meet the constraints while maintaining the appropriate taper of the tower, we developed a solution: i.e. using upper segments with a width of only 500 mm. This approach allowed us to make a lightweight steel tower weighing only 1200 kg, while achieving a height of 35 meters. In addition, the design includes an external ladder configuration, increasing accessibility and usability.

T1000-15 aluminum tower built near Wertach (Germany)

This project was provided to us by our regular customer, AllgauDSL, based in Germany. It was the first project in Germany to use the T1000 tower geometry. The favourable ground conditions allowed the use of Krinner ground screws. It was the first AluPro tower to be founded in this way.

Based on this experience we started small scale production of specialist ground screws for use in high load applications (such as telecommunications towers). If you need a non-standard ground screw – we are a good place to ask.

T500-12 lattice tower in the Spanish mountains

This is the furthest west (actually southwest) we have ever installed our masts and towers in the EU. Small tower, simple installation, beautiful place. Since this is an old example - we don't do this "stepped" geometry anymore. Those conical and straight parts mixed together didn't look good (although they worked). Now we are looking for more symmetrical designs that converge smoothly towards the top.

M500-12 Aluminum wall mast in Forbach (France)

Our first installation in France, this wall mounted mast enabled a radio link between Forbach and Saarbruecken. Easy installation. We pride ourselves on installations that are hard to tell a story about – because that means there were no problems. We like no problems.

T1000-45 lattice tower in Warsaw at the Police training unit (PL)

We were hired by the Police Communications Department (through Skanska, the general contractor) to build this rather tall tower in the city centre.

We used a design from another office – but the production, foundations, assembly and installation were done by AluPro. We also supplied the telecommunications container and the foundation.
